Raising Funds for a Good Cause
Globe University veterinary technology students raised money by hosting a penny war on campus during the week of October 14. Half of the proceeds raised helped support a Globe University staff member’s daughter who was recently diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. The students at Appleton know that every little bit helps and hope to provide some type of assistance for Tricia Stobbs and her daughter, Abby. A Halloween Costume Contest for our Furry Friends
The Veterinary Technology Club at Globe University-Appleton is also hosting a Halloween picture contest fundraiser featuring the pets of students and staff. Participants are asked to submit pictures of their pets in Halloween costumes. Each entry is $.25 and can be emailed to vet tech instructor Lex Dennis at ldennis@globeuniversity.edu. The winner of the contest will be announced on Halloween.
An Opportunity to Learn
Along with the fundraisers, students were able to attend an event that featured guest speaker Dr. Sara Gilbertson from Lake to Lake Veterinary Chiropractic. Dr. Gilbertson spoke to students on the practice of veterinary chiropractic care, which uses spinal manipulation, manual therapy and other conservative and holistic techniques on animals. The students were able to learn more about a new field of veterinary medicine.

I did not even know that there was a field for chiropractic for animals. That is something that I will have to explore further!
