Even a Super Hero Needs a Massage Once in a While

So you think you are a super hero?  Well guess what, even super hero’s need to take a break sometimes.

Many massage therapists and body workers are not very good about taking care of themselves. They either feel they are too busy, don’t have the money or really don’t deserve to get a massage. I remember when I attended massage school one of the main things they talked about was learning how to receive a massage. I thought this is crazy why would you have to “learn” how to receive a massage? Well believe it or not, it can be difficult for some people to be open to receiving. Therapists spend all their time taking care of others and often forget to take care of themselves or feel guilty if they put aside the needs of someone else to take care of themselves. Below I give the reluctant massage therapist 5 reasons they should get a massage.

1. You must take care of yourself if you are going to take care of others

2. You become a better therapist and body worker because you learn from others

3. Clients don’t want to get a massage from someone who is in pain and stressed out

4. The longevity of your career will increase if you receive massage on a regular basis

5. YOU DESERVE IT!

We must take care of ourselves and be willing to receive graciously. Don’t play the martyr; take care of yourself so you can do your job to the best of your ability. If you can’t do this, it may be time to reassess why you became a massage therapist in the first place.

If you want to play the super hero, then you better recharge your batteries once in a while.

Be Happy, Be Healthy and Be Wise!
